The base-spec Sigma and Delta variants get the greener powertrain with a manual transmission
One of the latest additions to Maruti’s lineup, the Maruti Fronx, entered the market in April 2023. The coupe-SUV is based on the Baleno hatchback and was launched with two petrol engine options. Now, the carmaker has added a CNG powertrain to the list making it the 15th Maruti model to get a CNG option.

The CNG powertrain continues to be limited to a manual transmission like the rest of Maruti’s CNG lineup. With the Fronx, the greener fuel option is being offered on the base-spec Sigma and one-above-base Delta variants at a premium of a little less than Rs 1 lakh over their corresponding variants.
Powertrain Details
The CNG option is available with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and produces 77.5PS and 98.5Nm. The CNG variants are paired only with the 5-speed manual transmission. Maruti is claiming a fuel efficiency of 28.51 km/kg for the Fronx CNG. This engine, in petrol mode, generates 90PS and 113Nm and also gets the option of a 5-speed AMT with the regular variants.
The Fronx also gets the option of a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 100PS and 148Nm. This unit is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Features & Safety
With these two CNG variants, you can get features like a 7-inch touchscreen information display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, automatic climate control, electrically foldable ORVMs, dual front airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), 3-point seatbelts for all passengers and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
