Maruti Fronx, one of the latest offerings from the Indian carmaker, was launched in April 2023 after making its global debut at the Auto Expo a few months prior. Now, Maruti is going global with the Fronx and has started to export it to countries in Latin America, Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa. The first batch of 556 units has already been exported from ports in Mundra, Pipavav and Mumbai.
Powertrain
The Maruti Fronx gets two engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol engine making 90PS and 113Nm mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT, and a 1-litre turbo-petrol unit which churns out 100PS and 148Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is unknown for now if there will be any powertrain differences for the export units as that can vary for each market.
Features & Safety
The Fronx is a premium offering sold via Maruti’s NEXA lineup here. As such, the crossover SUV gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, automatic climate control, heads-up display and cruise control. It also gets up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold assist and a 360-degree camera as part of its safety kit.

Price & Rivals
The Maruti Fronx is priced between Rs 7.46 lakh and Rs 13.13 lakh (ex-showroom) and it does not have any direct rivals in the country, but it does compete with the likes of subcompact SUVs like the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Maruti Brezza. The exported units of the Fronx will most likely be pricier and might even be sold only in their top variants.
