It is powered by Maruti’s tried and tested 1.2-litre petrol motor.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis, which received a facelift six months ago, has been given a feature update. The Zeta variant (one below top-spec Alpha) of the cross-hatch is now offered with the 7-inch Smartplay Studio touchscreen infotainment system for a more premium appeal. The update has led to a price hike of Rs 8,000, with the Zeta and Zeta AMT now priced at Rs 5.97 lakh and Rs 6.44 lakh respectively.
The Smartplay system is capable of handling navigation, voice commands, and packs Android Auto and Android CarPlay connectivity options as well. Second only to the top-spec Alpha variant, the Ignis Zeta misses out on LED headlamps with DRLs, auto climate control, and rear parking camera.
What the Zeta variant does get for being the next to top-spec variant are features such as push button start/stop, alloy wheels, rear windshield wiper and defogger, and electric folding ORVMs.
The Ignis is available with a lone engine option: a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 83PS and 113Nm. Drive is transmitted through either a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT gearbox.
Being a mid-size hatchback, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis faces competition in the form of the Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki Swift, and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
