Maruti increases car prices upto 8000

Maruti Suzuki India, one of the biggest names in the auto industry has declared that it is increasing the prices of its winning car models up to Rs 8,000 in all the segments it is present in. However, Maruti Alto K10 the recently launched small car is excluded from the increase price paradigm. The increase is the result of the continuous price hike of the raw materials such as natural rubber, steel and more.
Mayank Pareek, Managing Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) at Maruti Suzuki India confirmed that the prices have been increased by 0.5 per cent to 2.2 per cent and have been made effective from 17th January, 2011.
The company has raised the prices of it car models across segments from Rs 1,000 to Rs 8,000 differently increased on the varied models leaving Maruti Alto-K10. It was declared by the company last month that it will increase the price of its cars in January due to the increasing input prices.
Mr Pareek also said that the price of the natural rubber which was Rs 100 per kg is now double at Rs 200 per kg, Copper prices have increased to 12 -15 per cent and steel also shares the similar story.
Currently, Maruti is enjoying more than 50 per cent of the market share and to maintain and further grow in this lucrative domestic auto sector, the company is enhancing its portfolio by launching a new luxury sedan Maruti Kizashi by February. This is an attempt from the company to try its luck in the luxury segment as it is expected that this segment will grow further accrediting to increasing economy.
