The Maruti Invicto will share its features and powertrain with the Toyota Innova Hycross

Update (05/07/23): Maruti Invicto has been launched in India, with prices starting from Rs 24.79 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom pan India).

Maruti Invicto spied

  • Based on the Innova Hycross, the Maruti Invicto gets visual differences.

  • Maruti has opened bookings for the MPV for Rs 25,000.

  • New images show the revised grille with chrome slabs and underlining and tri-piece LED elements inside the taillights.

  • It also gets different alloy wheels and misses out on the variant badge on the tailgate.

  • Only change inside will be the black theme instead of  the tan upholstery in the Toyota MPV.

  • Reported to come with only the 2-litre strong-hybrid powertrain.

  • Expected features include 10-inch touchscreen, dual-zone AC and 360-degree camera.

We are barely 10 days away from the launch of the Toyota Innova Hycross-based Maruti Invicto. Its bookings are now underway for Rs 25,000, while its launch is slated for July 5. Ahead of the price announcement, the premium Maruti MPV has been spotted uncamouflaged yet again, this time giving a clearer look at its design.

Any Visual Changes?

The Maruti MPV has been snapped in a white shade, with the only major difference between the Invicto and the Innova Hycross being the tweaked grille. It will now feature twin chrome slats and a thick chrome underlining. The spotted model seemed to be a lower variant of the Invicto as it misses out on fog lamps and the panoramic sunroof, both of which are available on the top-spec Innova Hycross.

The Invicto also gets a different set of alloy wheels while its entire profile remains the same. At the back, you’ll notice that its LED taillights have the tri-piece element as seen on the modern Nexa offerings. While the rest of its rear profile remains unchanged (apart from the inclusion of the ‘Invicto’ moniker, of course). It also misses out on the variant badge, otherwise provided on its Toyota sibling.

Differences Inside The Cabin

As has been the staple of Maruti Nexa cars, the Invicto will also come in an all-black cabin theme (confirmed in one of its latest teasers as well). We’re not expecting any other change between the interiors of the two MPVs.

Maruti is also expected to provide the Invicto with the Hycross’s features such as a dual-zone climate control, a 10-inch touchscreen, a digital driver’s display, and ottoman function for the second row captain seats.

In terms of safety, we expect the Invicto to get up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera. The Hycross also comes with ADAS (advanced driver assist systems) but the Invicto unit spied does not seem to be equipped with it.

Strong-hybrid Only

If reports and dealer sources are to be believed, the Invicto will likely be offered with just the 184PS 2-litre strong-hybrid powertrain from the Innova Hycross. It will come with an e-CVT gearbox, and offer a claimed mileage of 21.1kmpl.

However, this sighting contradicts an earlier report of the Maruti Invicto being offered in a single fully loaded variant as available for booking. Either that or the rebadged MPV will simply reshuffle the equipment list of the Toyota MPV to lower its price.

Prices And Rivals

If offered as a hybrid-only model, Maruti is expected to price the premium Invicto MPV from Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). Its only direct competitor will be the Toyota Innova Hycross while it will be positioned higher than the likes of the Maruti XL6 and Kia Carens in the MPV category.
