Maruti Suzuki is ready to launch its most awaited model Maruti Ritz in India by March-April 2009. Maruti Ritz is a B+ Segment small hatchback car that would be lined up between its recently launched premium hatchback model Maruti A-star and its superhatch Maruti Swift.
Maruti Ritz will be powered by a KB series engine with two options- a 1.2L petrol engine and a 1.3L Multijet common rail diesel engine. The price of Maruti Ritz is likely to be around Rs. 4-5 lakh. Like the Maruti A-Star, the Maruti Ritz will also be an B+ segment car and will be produced from Maruti's state-of-the-art plant in Manesar, near Gurgaon.
According to sources, Maruti Ritz would be launched in six variants, which comprises three petrol and three diesel models. Both the petrol and diesel models will have four-valve-per-cylinder mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. A five-speed automatic gearbox might also be offered in future as an option and will also be within Europe's much debated Co2 emission cap of 140 g/km.
Maruti Ritz will equipped with the standard safety features like ABS, airbags, brake assist, ASP, etc some of which might be trimmed for India, to keep costs into consideration. The engine & transmission options may also vary for the petrol versions for Indian market.
