India’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki is surely doing well as the company posted amplified vehicles sales for the first time in the time period of eight months in January 2012. The surge in sales is due to the high demand for the hatchback cars and a huge flow in exports. The Suzuki Motor Corp’s local unit mentioned that the total vehicle sales in a last month got amplified by 5.2% to 115,433 units, which were 109,743 units in 2011. This is the first time after May 2011 that the company has seen growth in its vehicle sales. The sales of Maruti India in the domestic market in the last month was around 101,047 units, which was more as compared to 100,422 in the same time period in 2011.

Another good news is that the exports of the company also saw a hike of 54% to about 14,386 units. 22% of jump in the sales was seen because of the hatchback cars, such as Maruti Swift, Maruti Zen Estilo and Maruti Ritz. Demand for cars in the country has been luke-warm since the month of June last year majorly because of the rising fuel costs, costly loans and depreciation in the value of rupee.

Besides these reason, Maruti Suzuki India was also suffering from labor problems at its Manesar plant located in Northern Haryana, which in turn affected the vehicle production substantially. These labor issues mainly affected the diesel vehicles production, specially its cash cow, Maruti Swift. Despite of such problem, Maruti Suzuki India came out shining in the beginning of the New Year and registered higher car sales.
