It will debut Suzuki’s small displacement turbocharged petrol engines - Boosterjet in the country, expected to launch few months after the expo!
Country’s largest automobile manufacturer is all set to join the small displacement turbocharged petrol engines bandwagon. Maruti Suzuki will display its latest Boosterjet series of engines with the new 1.0 litre motor at the 2016 Auto Expo. It will power the sportier version of Baleno, which was a runaway success for the automaker since its launch a few months ago. The go-fast version of hatchback will be christened as Baleno RS. It is expected to retain the ‘RS’ moniker in the country and will be relatively costlier than the stock petrol versions. When launched, the vehicle will compete with VW Polo GT TSi and Abarth Punto.
The spotlight of Baleno RS will be the 1.0l Boosterjet engine. The 3-cylinder turbocharged motor develops a substantial 110 bhp of max power and 170 Nm of peak torque. Though, Abarth Punto is on a different tangent with 145 horses, Baleno RS produces more power than Polo GT TSi. However, like the Punto - Baleno RS is likely to be coupled with a 5-Speed manual gearbox! Expect competitive performance figures from the car.
Speaking of the aesthetic, Maruti Suzuki has only teased the rear profile of Baleno RS. Deducing from the picture, it is expected that the go-fast RS version will visually distinguish itself from the stock Baleno. The rear bumper will feature dual-tone scheme with faux diffusers. The front bumper will also receive a sportier treatment. The vehicle also rides on new diamond cut alloys. On the inside, expect sportier upholstery and it may get a few feature additions, adding to its long list!
