Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its new Ciaz loaded with hybrid technology tomorrow. The Ciaz Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) is based on an (ISG) Integrated starter generator that works as a Start/Stop function for the engine. The new technology turns off the vehicle when idling, helping to improve the fuel efficiency. In addition, it also features a Brake Energy Recovery System that will charge the batteries using the energy that gets generated while braking.
The car returns around 28 km/l as compared to a mileage of 26.21 km/l that the non-Hybrid Ciaz diesel returns from the same 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that produces 90 PS of power. As a result of this, the Ciaz SHVS becomes country’s most fuel efficient car. Along with the inculcation of the Hybrid diesel, ABS with EBD, the driver-side airbags will be standard on all the variants.
Maruti Ciaz is currently the second most selling car in the C-segment after Honda City. Company is planning to change this scenario with this update of Ciaz. The car was recently showcased at the GIIAS (Indonesia Motor Show) a few days back and in the near future, the SHVS unit will be carried over to other vehicles from the Maruti lineup like Ertiga and the hot-seller Maruti Swift.
