To be pitted in the segment of micro-SUVs, Ignis is scheduled to be launched in the festive season this year.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis made its Indian debut at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2016 in the concept form. The car has been a talk of the town since its world debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, following the launch in Japan. Now it seems that the interest of Indian car enthusiasts will be going to the next level as the vehicle has been spied testing in India for the first time. Going by the spyshots, we can see the car completely camouflaged in black, except a little part of the side profile.
The India bound version will be quite different from the Japanese counterpart with roof rails taken from the Ignis Trail Concept. The car will come with headlight cluster incorporating uniquely designed DRLs. Further, there would be ORVMs turn indicators, 16-inch alloys and rear mounted spoilers as part of the overall exterior profile.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis would be powered by 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3 litre diesel engine, as far as specs for the Indian market goes. The former produces 83bhp and 115Nm of torque, while the latter generates 74bhp and 190Nm of max torque. As per the transmission options, both the engines will come mated to 5-speed manual, while the petrol mill would get an additional option in the form of CVT automatic gearbox.
In terms of competition, Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be entering a fresh segment of micro SUVs, which was debuted by Mahindra KUV100, but it could also act as a bone of contention for other segment as well.
