Maruti Suzuki leads sales chart in April - August period

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) topped the sales chart yet again. In this fiscal's April-August tenure, five top-selling cars out of ten, came from MSI's stable. With 1,03,123 units sold in the period, Alto lead the best-selling list. Company’s Dzire and Swift occupied the second and third spot, with 82,912 units and 80,861 units delivered respectively. 

The fourth position was taken by another Maruti product, WagonR at 63,051 units sold during the tenure. Replacing the Hyundai Eon hatch, Grand i10 makes its way to fifth position, with 40,530 units sold during the period. The sixth position was occupied by another Hyundai, Xcent, that displaces hatchback i10 from the top ten list. The Korean manufacturer retailed 33,685 units of the compact sedan during the period. After being displaced from the top-five list, the most affordable Hyundai, Eon landed on the seventh position with 32,171 units delivered. 

Honda Cars India's new City sedan stands at the eighth position, replacing the compact sedan Amaze, which now moves to 10th position. Its 30,447 units were retailed during the April-August duration. Maruti Suzuki Celerio, which was launched earlier this year at the Auto Expo, with 29,591 units sold during the period stood at ninth position. While Honda's compact sedan Amaze sold 28,887 units in the April-August period to take the 10th spot. 

While particularly in the month of August, Maruti Suzuki continues its dominance with its five models making it to the top 10 selling cars in the country. The positions remained the same with, Alto topping the sales charts followed by Dzire, Swift and WagonR placed at the second, third and fourth spots.
