Maruti to enhance its dealership base to1500 by 2015

Maruti Suzuki India, the largest car maker in the country, is planning to further increase its foot prints in the country by taking the number of its dealerships to as much as 1,500 in the coming five years. At present, Maruti India has the largest dealership network in the Indian market with 828 sales outlets spread across the country.

According to a statement given by Mr Partho Banerjee, General Manager (Marketing and Sales) at Maruti Suzuki India, the company presently has 828 sales outlets and there are plans to double them in the next five years. He added that the company is trying to identify the socio-economic conditions of a particular area, two-wheeler sales and based on that, work out a strategy to start outlets. He was speaking at the occasion of the launch of the new Maruti Alto in the State of Kerala. The company is planning to increase the number of its dealerships to 100 in the state of Kerala in the next five years as against existing 59 outlets. It sells more than 8000 units of its cars per month in this state which includes 2,700 units of Maruti Alto. 

The Maruti Alto is the highest selling car in the Indian market with clocking sales of more than 20,000 units per month. With the launch of the new Alto K10 in the country, the company now plans to drive even higher volumes of this small sensation. The New Alto K10 carries an improved suspension, a new cable type transmission, more knee room for rear seat passengers and superior brake system. The New Alto K10 carries a price tag of RS 3.02 lakh for LXI and Rs 3.15 lakh for VXI variant. (ex-showroom Kochi).

Last year, this Indian auto giant sold one million units of its cars in the country. However, the company is still struggling with the capacity constraints due to which the waiting period of some of its most popular cars have reached up to 3 to 4 months.
