Who doesn't like exclusivity? India's largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki introduced debuted exclusive Nexa showrooms, in August last year. Needless to say, the core focus is on delivering a premium experience in sales while the consumer buys a premium product from the automaker.
However, cars sold via Nexa were serviced and maintained at regular Maruti service centres. With 3136 service outlets across the country, the aftersales network is unparalleled. But, the manufacturer wants to go one step further and add a separate service wing for Nexa within the next six months. Now, the sales outlets are evidently swankier compared to the standard Maruti showrooms. Expect the service outlets to replicate a similar experience.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki sells the S-Cross crossover and the Baleno hatchback through 127 Nexa showrooms across the country. The S-Cross struggled to find takers initially. Only when Maruti announced a whopping price cut, the crossover gained some traction in the market. The Baleno, on the other hand, has been a runaway success both in the domestic market and overseas. Nexa has sold over 70,000 cars so far, and the company plans on adding another 123 showrooms to add to the tally.
Maruti Suzuki will be launching an all-new hatch, called the Ignis and an 'RS' variant of the Baleno later this year. We expect both cars to go on sale by Diwali. The company is targeting a medium-term goal of 20 lakh annual sales by 2020 and is banking heavily on its premium offerings retailed via Nexa.
We think the addition of the separate service wing is a thoughtful idea. Do you think Maruti is right in adding separate service outlets for Nexa? Let us know in the comments!
