Maruti to launch updated variants of is small cars

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car manufacturer is planning to launch updated variants of its most popular and best-selling car models like Maruti Alto, Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Swift. There are also rumors that these updated models of Maruti will be slightly cheaper compare to the existing models. By launching these updated model the company is gearing up to compete with market majors like Honda, Toyota and Volkswagen that are planning to launch their small cars in India in year 2010.
The Indian arm of Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki Motor which is known worldwide for its small car models is going against the industry trend of launching new updated variants at higher prices. In coming months the competition for Maruti Suzuki India is going to be very tough as number of small cars will be launched in this period in India like Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo, Honda New Small car and a small car from Toyota.
Maruti has already launched its MUV Maruti Eeco in India at ongoing Delhi Auto Expo. The Maruti Eeco model is very economical as well as specious compare to other car models in this range. Maruti Eeco has been launched in India as a replacement of previous MUV Maruti Versa.
Maruti's CEO S Nakanishi’s said in a press conference that year 2010 is going to be very tough for Maruti in India. “We have to gain volumes to protect our market share with global car makers entering the compact car segment,” said Mr Nakanishi.
