Maruti Suzuki India is the largest car manufacturer in India and the sad news is that the firm is planning to put a pause on the production of some of its most prominent car models, which also includes the best selling hatchback, Maruti Swift. This is being done because of the ongoing strike at the Manesar plant that is literally making a lot of trouble in supplying some of the cars’ critical components. Apart from Maruti Swift, the production halt will also be done for models like Maruti Alto, Maruti Swift Dzire and Maruti SX4 sedan.

Till the supply of the components gets back to normal, Maruti Suzuki India will only roll out, Maruti Eeco, Maruti 800, Maruti Gypsy models and Maruti Omni as these models are not manufactured at the Manesar Plant of Maruti Suzuki India. The state government declared on Wednesday that the strike is completely illegal and have also asked the workers to resume work at the premises immediately. The labor unrest has already caused some major loss to the firm. However, the Gurgaon plant of Maruti Suzuki India is still functional but it has to operate over 5th of its actual capacity because of lack of components from Manesar plant of Maruti. The production at the Manesar plant has been shut from 7th of October.

On Wednesday, Maruti Suzuki India’s Gurgaon plant literally produced just 600 units, which is way too less against its actual capacity of a whopping 2800. The Manesar plant was used to churn out the diesel engines and Maruti Swift, which is the most popular model of Maruti in the country. The workers of the Manesar Plant have broken the contract and this has further worsened the situation . Suzuki Motors is also worried about the current circumstances. The trade unions in Gurgaon, Manesar, Bawal and Dharuhera have made an official announcement of organizing a objection rally at the Manesar Plant of Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday, which is an absolute bad news for Maruti India.
