Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its first MPV offering from its Nexa chain of showrooms, the XL6, tomorrow. The XL6 will be available in just two petrol-powered variants - Zeta and Alpha. Fortunately, both variants will get the option of an automatic transmission. The bookings for the XL6 are open through the Nexa website and showrooms for a token amount of Rs 11,000.
Under the hood will be the BS6-compliant version of Maruti’s 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder K15B petrol engine coupled with the mild-hybrid system from the Ertiga. This motor develops 105PS of power and 138Nm of peak torque and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.01kmpl (MT) and 17.99 (AT). There won’t be any diesel option with the XL6.
On the outside, the XL6 gets rugged cladding all around, a blacked-out and redesigned front fascia as well as alloy wheels and multi-reflector LED headlamps with daytime running lamps over the Ertiga. The interiors get the same dashboard layout but with a darker trim and some silver accents. The XL6 will get leatherette upholstery and captain seats for the second row, making it a strict six-seater instead of the Ertiga’s seven.
Its feature list will be on par with the Ertiga but the 7-inch touchscreen will be the SmarPlay Studio unit that’s now offered in the new WagonR and Baleno. Cruise control will be another addition while standard safety features include ABS with EBD and dual airbags as standard. Automatic variants are expected to get ESP and hill hold assist as well.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be priced at a premium over the Ertiga with prices likely to start from Rs 9.5 lakh and go up till Rs 11.2 lakh. For a detailed look at the expected prices, head here. When launched, it will rival the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Renault Lodgy and the Mahindra Marazzo.
