Maruti Grand Vitara, the carmaker's first strong-hybrid offering, is all set to be launched on September 26. Pre-launch bookings for the Grand Vitara opened in late July, and so far, the carmaker has received over half a lakh bookings, with a majority share for the self-charging, strong-hybrid variants. The Grand Vitara was developed jointly with Toyota’s Hyryder, whose prices for the strong-hybrid variants were revealed earlier this month.
The Grand Vitara features twin 1.5-litre petrol engines, a 103PS mild-hybrid and a 116PS strong-hybrid (combined output). While the mild-hybrids will be mated with a five-speed manual and an optional six-speed automatic, the strong-hybrids will only have an e-CVT. The top-spec mild-hybrid will also get an all-wheel drivetrain (manual only) as an option. The Grand Vitara will be available in six broad trims, Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta+, Alpha and Alpha+.

Maruti has loaded the Grand Vitara with a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, seven-inch digital instrument cluster (strong-hybrid only), ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and head-up display. Its safety features include electronic stability control (ESC), up to six airbags, a 360-degree camera, hill hold assist and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
The Grand Vitara is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 9.5 lakh and Rs 19.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW-Skoda SUVs, MG Astor and the Toyota Hyryder.
