    Takeaways:

    Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

    • The facelifted Maruti Vitara Brezza took the top spot on the sales chart in October 2020 thanks to a month-on-month increase of 32 percent. Maruti shipped over 12,000 units of its SUV, 366 more than the second best-selling SUV, the Kia Sonet.

    Kia Sonet

    • While Kia’s Sonet was the most sought-after SUV in September 2020 with even more units shipped in October, it took the second spot with a tally of 11,721. Presently, it holds the second highest market share, of almost 24 percent.

    Hyundai Venue

    • Hyundai’s sub-4m SUV came third with over 8,000 units shipped during the period. Its demand has stayed relatively stable, witnessing the least MoM growth of around 4 percent.

    Tata Nexon

    • Compared to September, Tata shipped 881 units more of the Nexon in October. It is slowly catching up to the Venue and commands a market share of a little over 14 percent.

    Mahindra XUV300

    • The Mahindra XUV300 witnessed the second highest MoM growth, of almost 32 percent, keeping it out of the bottom spot in the segment’s monthly figures.

    Ford EcoSport

    • Ford shipped 4,599 units of the EcoSport in October 2020 and it holds a market share of 9.38 percent. It also enjoyed a month-on-month growth of just over 29 percent but fell short of its Mahindra rival.

    Toyota Urban Cruiser

    • The Toyota Urban Cruiser has been on sale for a few months now and has only just been added to the official list. It might have been delayed as it is simply a badge-engineered version of the Vitara Brezza made by Maruti Suzuki. Toyota shipped over 3,000 units of the SUV in October 2020. It holds the lowest market share of 5.77 percent.

    • Overall, the segment witnessed a MoM growth of over 22 percent with the total sales figure standing at 49,005 units.

    • Expect this segment to grow even more with the launch of the Nissan Magnite later this month and the Renault Kiger’s expected arrival in early-2021.
