On the American grounds, the story surrounding the success of the luxury car makers is entirely different from the one taking shape in India. Here in India Mercedes Benz was dethroned by BMW a long time ago and recently the number two position was bagged Audi which threw Mercedes Benz in the third position. But in the US car market, Mercedes Benz has beaten BMW with way-too-high selling units for the month of April 2012. So the former luxury car maker is now sitting on the throne in the luxury car segment of the country. In the month of April 2012, the deliveries from BMW saw an increase of 24% to 21,062 units but it was still less than the figure of Mercedes Benz which stood high at 22,336 units.
Last year, Mercedes Benz and BMW emerged as the best-selling luxury brands of US after dethroning Lexus and currently both of these German giants are dipped head to toe in the competition and haste to wear the crown of luxury car-maker of US. The rising fuel prices have altered the course of car sale and purchase, all around the world; the US citizens are also opting for vehicles that are smaller or deliver better fuel efficiency. This strong reaction has changed the entire trend and the automakers are the ones being affected the most as it is exceptionally difficult to cope with the high demand of smaller or medium size vehicles in the passenger segment that are affixed with smaller and more fuel efficient engines.
