Mercedes Benz Registered 30 Percent Growth in India in 2011

The third largest luxury auto maker of the country, Mercedes Benz India registered a substantial growth of around 30 percent in the fiscal year 2011-12. The year ended in March 2012 and this brand grew decently against the overall slowdown in the auto industry. The Director of Sales and Marketing of Mercedes Benz India, Mr. Debashis Mitra mentioned that the sales figures of the company for 2011-12 stand at 7,430 units in comparison to 5,819 units of 2010-11. He added that the company has recorded a growth of 10-15 percent in the period from January to April.
Mr. Mitra also mentioned that Mercedes Benz closed the financial year 2011-12 on a positive and prospering note. For the new financial year the company has set forth a number of initiatives that can size the rich scope of growth in the luxury segment of the country’s auto industry. Mercedes Benz is operational in the car market of India for over 15 years now, but the relationship can be traced back to 1950s when the company entered India through the route of trucks. Mercedes Benz then collaborated with local companies and introduced its trucks in the country and at present the company has opened its dealerships in 31 cities with a total of 70 outlets. In the year 2009, at Chakan, near Pune, Mercedes Benz India constructed a 100 acre world-class production facility.
