The german luxury car manufacturer, Mercedes Benz India is all set and geared up to launch a less expensive diesel version of the Mercedes C class and Mercedes E class taverns in the coming 2 years, which is expected to amplify the volumes. Presently, both Mercedes C and E class come with 2,500 cc diesel engine, but now this luxury car maker is planning to make a 2000cc diesel engine. Furthermore, Mercedes’ competitors, such as Audi and BMW are already selling luxury cars with 2000cc diesel engines.

The major reason why Mercedes Benz India is thinking of launching smaller and cheaper diesel engine is that it would be best for the Indian auto market and will assist the firm to cut down the prices along with few gadgets on proffer. Currently, the price of Mercedes Benz C class lands between the range of Rs. 25.75 to Rs. 32.81 Lakh. On the other hand, Mercedes E Class comes between the price range of Rs. 40.61 Lakh to Rs. 50.44 Lakh. Both these luxury cars come with 2.5 litres of diesel engine versions and both of these also contribute to a huge chunk of sales of this German car firm. Mercedes’ arch rival, BMW is already selling the corporate edition diesel versions, like BMW 320d and BMW 520d accompanied with 2000cc diesel motor. And these two diesel engine cars contribute about half of the sales of this car manufacturer. Both these BMW diesel cars are a less expensive copy of BMW 3 and BMW 5 series car models with a few less equipments.

The main aim of these luxury car makers to offer less expensive diesel variants of the cars is to attract more and more consumers towards it. Apart from 2000cc diesel version, Mercedes Benz India is also planning to launch its small SUV, Mercedes GLK class in next one and a half year, which will give a tough fight to Audi Q3 and BMW X3. Recently, Mercedes Benz India sent over around 90 customized Mercedes C Class cars to Carzonrent, which is a mobility solution firm. With this transaction, Mercedes became the largest selling luxury Car Company.
