Mercedes E-class saw 137 per cent rise

Indian arms of the international auto makers are doing very well for last two years in the luxury car segment,. This has happened due to the increased purchasing power of Indians. One of the growing auto company in the luxury car segment, Mercedes-Benz India has maintained the chart of increased sales so far. This time, the company managed to sell fair amount of car units in India with the help of Mercedes-Benz E-class and M-class. The former car model saw a 137 per cent increase in sales, whereas the latter experienced a 60 per cent rise during the period of January-June 2010.

However, the overall growth in this period has been 79 per cent in terms of car units sold by the company. Mercedes was able to sell 2,402 cars as against 3,250 units in the year 2009.

Mercedes-Benz Managing Director and CEO Wilfried Aulbur informed reporters in Kolkata that the eastern region posted 100 per cent rise in the same period. He further added that the company did not want to predict numbers. They would continue to finish the year with strong double digit growth as the current momentum continues.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the Interkrafts showroom in Kolkata yesterday, Mr. Hiteshwar Singh, Director & CEO Interkrafts said, “Till date, Interkrafts has sold an estimated 450+ Mercedes-Benz cars in Kolkata and West Bengal of which 70 units were sold in Jan – May 2010 (53 units in Jan – May 2009; 103 units in Jan – Dec 2009). Our focus upon the market also earned us the coveted award as the dealership with highest levels of customer satisfaction within the Mercedes-Benz India network. The new showroom will help us position ourselves even more attractively in the market and engage our customers even better.”
