Mercedes India may launch four new cars in 2011

Recently the trend in Indian luxury car segment has been shifted with the ‘market leader’ title being grabbed by the German car manufacturer, BMW from long leading Mercedes. With a view to compensate the big loss, luxury car maker is now in a process to to pen down some major launches in this lucrative market. The competition in this market was further stiffened with other main competitor Audi launching two major car models, Audi A6 and Audi Q3.

These will be major models which will improve company’s sale for the next year. Now the speculation say that Mercedes is to give an answer back by launching its all new Mercedes CLS-Class in the third quarter of running financial year. The all new Mercedes CLS will come powered by 4-, 6-cylinder diesel engine and 6-, 8-cylinder petrol engine. The CLS 350 CDI BlueEfficiency will be able to smoke out a peak power of 265 bhp and the CLS 350 BlueEfficiency is to give 306 bhp power. These are two most expected variants to come in Indian auto market.

Talking about next expected model for this market, Mercedes SLK sports convertible which is expected to get a launch in the month of Nov or Dec 2011. The expected variant in this model is Mercedes SLK 350 which will come powered by 3.5 L V6 direct-injection engine capable of churning out 306 bhp of power. The third launch expected in this year is Mercedes C-Class facelift which will appear in the festive season of Diwali.

The new facelift will come powered by 1.8-liter 4 cylinder direct-injected, turbocharged engine capable of churning out 201 horsepower. There are 3 diesel engines for overseas markets with power ranging from 136 hp to 204 hp. The company has claimed its new models to give 15% better fuel economy. For now it is not sure as to how many variants will enter Indian shores.

At the end, Mercedes S-Class will also get a facelift. Mercedes S350 will now get powered by CGI technology and Mercedes S 500 variant will sport 4.7-liter V8 direct injected turbocharged engine producing 400hp. Among other major plans the company is to start assembling the Mercedes M-Class and Mercedes GL-Class utility vehicles in India.
