Mercedes-Benz has added the 'Night Edition' to the variant list of its two most affordable offerings in India – the A-Class and the B-Class. Limited to 100 units each, pricing is as follows:
A 180 (Petrol) – Rs 27.31 lakh
A 200 d (Diesel) – Rs 28.32 lakh
B 180 (Petrol) – Rs 29.34 lakh
B 200 d (Diesel) – Rs 30.35 lakh
(all prices ex-showroom, Pune)
Both cars get identical engine options, that includes the 1.6-litre petrol which makes 122PS and 200Nm, and a 2.0-litre diesel that is good for 136PS and 300Nm. Transmission duties are carried out by Mercedes' seven-speed '7GTRONIC' unit, and the cars get a set of four driving modes – Comfort, Eco, Sport and Individual – for owners to choose from.
Upgrades to the exterior include blacked-out mirror covers, black hub caps and the signature diamond grille with a black painted louvre. It also features new 17-inch, five-spoke alloys and a dual-pipe set-up for the exhaust that gets chrome tips as well. The interiors remain unchanged; so they continue to offer goodies such as the 'ARTICO' artificial leather, electric seats, and an eight-inch display for the infotainment (with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay).
2016 was a great year for Mercedes-Benz, as it clawed its way back to the top of the luxury car sales charts. The German auto giant ended last year on a high, by introducing the affordable AMG avatar of the C-Class, the C 43. 2017 promises to be mega for the manufacturer as it will introduce the new generation of one of its bestsellers, the E-Class.
