Mercedes-Benz Opens ITI In Pune

Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz recently installed its new 'Advanced Auto Body Repair Training Centre' in Pune’s Chinchwad area. Aimed at aspirants of careers in the automotive industry, the training centre will strengthen the technical skill set of the country’s potential workforce. 

The German carmaker has joined hands with Don Bosco ITI for this endeavour and has spent no less than Rs 2.65 crore on the project. The students at this institute will get an opportunity to hone their technical skill sets with the help of the latest equipment, including a Mercedes-Benz car provided by the company.

The duration of the course is one year with a total of 21 students per batch. Classes will be taken at the Don Bosco campus in Chinchwad. An additional 1 month will be utilized for imparting Mercedes-Benz Auto Body Technology knowhow to the students.

The curriculum will focus on modern safety norms, light-weight body construction concepts and other evolving technologies. Trainers will be trained at the Mercedes-Benz India facility in Coimbatore and also at select company dealerships. 

Successful candidates will be awarded an ITI trade certificate along with a joint Advanced Training certificate issued by Don Bosco and Mercedes-Benz India.

On the occasion, company managing director and chief executive officer Roland Forger pointed the huge demand of skilled labour in India’s automotive sector and said that the training centre will be a launchpad for the country’s manpower in the industry. 

“The Advanced Auto Body Parts Training Centre' will remain an important milestone towards modernisation, practical relevance and flexibility of vocational education and training in Maharashtra,” he said.

“The Advanced Auto Body Repair course will focus on automotive crash repair and automotive body structure related repair activities, ensuring a well-trained and highly skilled manpower supply in these crucial areas of servicing."
