Millionth Audi Q5 Rolls Out of Ingolstadt Plant

Audi marked a production milestone at Ingolstadt on Thursday as it rolled out the one millionth (tenth lakh) Q5 from its main plant in the German city. Finished in Sepang Blue and waiting to be delivered to a German family, the milestone vehicle is an SQ5 performance crossover SUV. 

The occasion comes in eight years after the model was first launched in the market and the Audi Q5 has become an international seller in this duration. The car is now sold across more than 100 countries globally, according to the brand with four rings.

"The Audi Q5 is a genuine guarantee of success for us. For that reason, I am very proud that we have created a worldwide crowd puller with this SUV model from the main plant in Ingolstadt. One million Audi Q5 cars - that is due to the outstanding performance of our production team. We achieved it with great effort and commitment", said Ingolstadt's plant Director, Albert Mayer, who was joined at the ceremony by Chairman of the brand's General Works Council, Peter Mosch, and by the A4, A5 and Q5 production employees.

The Audi Q5 continues to be a global bestseller among luxury cars, including markets like India where it is locally manufactured. Currently, worldwide sales of the car sit at around 16 lakh units while the car sold more than 2.5 lakh units in 2015 alone. Audi's second Q-model, after the Q7, “continues to be the bestselling premium SUV in its segment,” according to the German carmaker and its sales have already shown a 4.7 percent rise in the first half of the current year.
