New BMW 3 series expected for a mid-2012 launch

Just few days back BMW 3 series convertible had arrived in India to go on sale from early next year. Now a revamped version of the BMW 3 series sedan is expected from the luxury car manufacturer towards the mid-2012. The 2012 BMW 3-series is offered in the European markets in three variants- along Sport, Luxury and Modern lines. The revamp is mostly on the exteriors in the new version offered abroad. The engine and the performance are more or less likely to remain the same. Now, similar variants with same specifications are expected to make it to India as well where the consumers are given the preference to customize the models.

It is the 320i model available in a 4-cylinder petrol engine, a 320d offered with a 4-cylinder diesel and a 330i model with a 6-cylinder petrol engine under the hood. As mentioned, the variation is more pronounced on the exteriors of the car especially near the grille and headlamp designs. The new grille and the redesigned headlamps offer a cutesy appeal while maintaining the classy image, with both integrated into each other with a minor ring like link in the center. The sports line variant comes with exclusive black exteriors with rich black interior finish as well. The Luxury line highlights the chrome inserts on the exteriors which hold quite an interesting appeal. The Modern Line is more known for incorporating the aluminium metal to meet the recent demand for lightweight effect.

The vintage leather interiors now look more enticing with some attractive color tones for a spectacular finish. Overall, the three variants get a superb touch where interiors are concerned. Now, coming to the engine performance on all three models, the BMW 3 series 320i 4-cylinder petrol engine generates a good power of 154 Bhp and 200 Nm torque. The 330i that is the one with 6-cylinder petrol engine churns out a peak power and torque numbers of 254 Bhp and 300 Nm. The 320d, the much acclaimed 4-cylinder diesel engine from BMW offers a peak power of 181 Bhp and peak torque of 380 Nm. Soon after the launch of the new BMW 3-series, a convertible version of the same is expect to follow close on the heels.
