New Ford Fiesta grabs 1000 bookings in 45 days

On 14th of July, Ford India launched the brand new and improved Ford Fiesta with a slightly high price tag, which was surely a surprise for all. The new Ford Fiesta gives a direct competition to Hyundai’s Verna Fluidic, which has a very lucrative price tag. But still, Ford India managed to secure around 1000 bookings for the new Ford Fiesta in the last forty five days. This news was delivered by the Managing Director and President of Ford India, Mr. Michael Boneham. According to Mr. Michael Boneham, the new Ford Fiesta has managed to receive a pretty decent response from the consumers so far regardless of its high price. Ford India aims to strengthen its position in the midsized segment of the Indian car market.

However, the new Ford Fiesta released with high price made it crystal clear that Ford India aims to grasp more profit than volumes. Therefore, the new Ford Fiesta will not be selling like hot cakes like other sedans in the market now. Visualizing the current market situation and high demand for diesel cars, all the auto manufacturers have been forced to produce diesel cars for consumers. Even Ford India has diesel cars, which strengthens its portfolio further that begins with the diesel variants of Ford Figo and Ford Endeavour SUV. Ford Figo already has a huge demand in the Indian car market and the demand for diesel variant of Ford Figo has grown significantly.

Ford India is currently facing some limitations as the sales of Ford Figo diesel has increased considerably by more than 75% and is expected to touch the mark of 80% in the couple of week’s time. Ford India also exports its car to some South-East Asia regions. Currently, Ford exports Ford Figo to around 26 countries and this number might rise to 50 by the end of 2011. With the release of new Ford Fiesta and securing 1000 bookings in merely 45 days, Ford India is more confident about its upcoming cars. Rumor has it that a hatchback variant of Ford Fiesta is also in the pipeline. A new version of Ford Endeavour is also expected to arrive pretty soon. There are also speculations about Ford Focus sedan to launch in India soon, however there has been no confirmation about it, but Ford India believes in delivering quality products to its consumers in India.
