Hyundai India is once again back to its normal trend –aggressively testing its new models. This time caught testing is the heavily camouflaged new Hyundai i20, which could only mean one thing, the impending launch. Going by the extensive testing and the recent launch of Hyundai EON LPG, the new Hyundai i20 could be slated for a launch during the latter half of this year. There is definitely the ‘Fluidic’ design stamp all over the new model which clearly shows the smooth flowing lines on the revamped version. Despite the camouflage, the sharp designs of the headlamps are more prominent than ever.

Looks wise the car has taken a huge leap forward housing the same petrol and diesel motors which have never been the reason for complaint. But Hyundai India has brought in the new Variable Valve Technology (VVT) to turn around the sales of the 1.2 L petrol car which are more inclined towards the diesel variant of late. The idea though is quite evident to give a push to the most sought after factor these days, the mileage in the petrol variant. The 1.4 L diesel engine has never been an issue and continued to outsell the Hyundai i20 petrol with its super high fuel efficiency of 23 kmpl, although certain rumours are definitely making rounds that Hyundai India might probably bring in the Hyundai Verna’s 1.6 L diesel powertrain. All the same, it is too good to be true as no other rival in the segment has this powerful engine powering the B segment hatchback, not even the closest rival Maruti Swift which is endowed with a 1.3 L mutlijet engine.
