New Maruti A-Star Automatic to be launched in India soon

The largest Indian auto marker, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL) is planning to launch an automatic transmission version of one of its most popular hatchback Maruti A-Star in the Indian market. After its launch in the country, the auto gear version of A-star will be competing with the likes of Hyundai i10 which is the only car that is available with automatic transmission option in this price segment. According to industry sources, the Maruti A-Star Automatic will be launched in the country by the end of this month. It is to be mentioned here that Maruti A-star is company's flagship export model from the Indian market which it sells in both automatic and manual transmission versions in the European countries. The new auto-gear Maruti A-Star will come powered with a 1.0L K-series engine that is capable of generating as much as 67 bhp of maximum power and will possibly carry a price tag of Rs. 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Meanwhile, in a bid to capitalize on the rising demand of CNG run cars in the Indian market, MSIL is all set to launch CNG variants of five of its most popular cars in the Indian market including best-selling Maruti Alto, compact hatches Maruti Zen Estilo and Wagon R, MPV Maruti Eeco and starting range sedan Maruti SX4. By launching these alternative fuel variants in the country, the company is eying on capturing large chunks of mass volume segment. The company has announced that it will launch all of these variants simultaneously in a single day by the end of this week.
Moreover, an LPG version of recently launched New Maruti Wagon R is also expected to hit the Indian roads by the end of this month. The new Maruti Wagon R LPG will be carrying the same DUO concept which is already available with older version of Maruti Wagon R in the Indian market.
