Update 24/04/2017: Maruti Suzuki Unveils New DZire
Not only is the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire the highest selling compact sedan in India, but is also the second most selling car in the country. It is preferred by private owners and commercial fleet operators alike. When Maruti introduced the second-generation DZire, its first-generation was rebranded as the Dzire Tour and is currently being sold for commercial purposes only. And now that the third-generation DZire is on its way, various rumors suggesting that the Dzire Tour will soon be discontinued have surfaced. However, these seem to be false as the new Dzire Tour, based on the second-generation DZire, has been spotted. Moreover, upon inquiring with a few Maruti dealers, it was confirmed that they are already accepting bookings for the new DZire Tour for a token amount of Rs 5000. The new Dzire Tour has already reached few dealerships and is expected to be launched after the introduction of third-generation Swift DZire.
The new Dzire Tour is based on the base trim level of the current DZire, LDI. As the spy pics suggest, it comes with black and beige interiors, power windows and a multi-info display. However, it lacks features like automatic climate control, parking sensors and an infotainment system. It also features body-coloured bumpers and a black plastic grille.
It will be powered by the same 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine as the current Swift DZire. The diesel engine produces 75PS of power and 190Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The Dzire Tour doesn't come with a petrol engine.
The third-generation Swift DZire is expected to be launched in the country soon and has already been spied on several occasions. Its front fascia looks identical to the new Swift (the car it is based on). Also, it is expected to be introduced with a list of features like LED DRLs, projector headlamps (probably LEDs) and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
