After having teased the exterior previously, the German carmaker has highlighted the additions to the interior this time around

  • The new-gen CLA will carry the new Merc design language, first seen on the A-Class.

  • It will come with a host of technological innovations like the new infotainment system.

  • Expect it to come to India some time in 2020.

With just few days to go for the official unveil of the new-gen Mercedes-Benz CLA at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, MB has dropped a new teaser of the CLA’s interior. The German carmaker is revealing the car at a tech show because they want to highlight the technological innovations in the new CLA.

Previously, Mercedes-Benz had revealed a silhouette of the upcoming CLA, but this time around, the carmaker has given a glimpse of the car’s interiors. A video released by MB shows the lights come on automatically as a person moves his hand from the driver's side to the passenger side of the cabin. This gesture controlled lighting will definitely lend a touch of premiumness to the CLA’s cabin. Merc’s new MBUX infotainment system, first seen in the new A-CLass, is also visible in the video. The system’s highlights are the voice commands that allow one to control it by saying ‘Hey Mercedes’. Indirect voice commands like ‘I am too cold’ can also be used to increase the preset temperature of the climate control system.

The interior design of the new CLA seems to be inspired by the new A-Class, whereas the exterior of the new CLA should mirror the CLS as both are coupes. We can’t confirm this yet as Mercedes-Benz will drop the camouflage from the CLA only at the 2019 CES, which will be begin on 8 January 2019.

Expect the baby coupe from Mercedes-Benz to arrive on Indian shores some time in 2020. The CLA is also expected to get two AMG versions, the CLA 35 and CLA 45, compared to only the CLA 45 currently sold in India. On the standard CLA, expect the engine to be the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel also present in the C-Class facelift (two states of tune: 194PS/245PS).

The new CLA might command some premium over the existing model in India, prices of which start at Rs 31.72 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).
