The new Skoda Laura RS will be launched tomorrow, however due to the incessant rains in Mumbai, the ground event has been postponed. The new Skoda Laura RS price is speculated to be around Rs 16 lakhs. According to the sources, Skoda Laura RS specifications reveal that the new sedan will be replaced with a 1.8 L TSI petrol engine that powers the new sedan, to churn out a maximum power of 160 Bhp and maximum torque of 250 Nm instead of the earlier, powerful 200 Bhp 2 liter turbo petrol engine. The sedan will be deployed with a 6 speed manual transmission gearbox, unlike the other premium segment sedans which are available with DSG gearbox. Retaining the manual transmission is a step taken towards cost-cutting to make the sedan relatively affordable to the public.

As for Skoda Laura RS features, no visible changes is reported to have been made in the suspension department as well, while few technical changes might leap in for sharper handling. Hence, we can strongly say that the changes made in the upgraded version remains to be mostly cosmetic. The Laura RS present in the international market is equipped with a sport suspension that helps in decreasing the car's ground clearance by lowering the nadir even further from 37 mm to 127 mm. However, Indian model of this sedan is not likely to see such extremely low point of 127 mm, there-by retaining the ground clearance as earlier variants, which might not suit the Indian roads otherwise. The fog lamps are likely to get the LED as an addition, with the day time lamps sitting just above the fog lamps. Another additional feature included in the upgraded version is the electric sunroof. Exceptional interior seat covers, tautly spread over the seats and the leather covered steering wheel, metal accelerator, brake and clutch pedals are to mention a few bonus features in the new version.

Skoda's authentic 'Climatronic system' is removed in this version to fall-back to the good-old manual A/C controls and the driver seat adjustments also needs to be made manually. However, the safety measures are not pulled back with the six airbags that safeguard the new Skoda Laura RS along with the other safety aids like ABS, ESP, Traction Control, Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), tyre pressure monitor and Electronic Differential Locking (EDL).
