    Key Takeaways

    Tata Nexon facelift

    • The Tata Nexon, with more than 15,300 units sold, was not only the best seller in its segment, but the highest selling SUV in September 2023. Its MoM witnessed the highest growth of over 90 percent, helping it achieve a market share of almost 27.5 percent. This number also includes the sales figures of the new Tata Nexon EV. Both models recently got a facelift.

    • At a little over 15,000 units, the Maruti Brezza came a close second. Its year-on-year (YoY) market share went up by slightly more than 1.3 percent.

    • The Hyundai Venue was the last SUV on the list to go past the 10,000-unit sales mark. Its MoM numbers shot up by 11 percent. This figure also consists of the sales number of the Hyundai Venue N Line, the sportier version of the same.

    Kia Sonet

    • With almost 5,000 units dispatched, the Kia Sonet also showed strong MoM growth at 20 percent. It may be half the sales of the Hyundai cousin but it’s still the fourth-highest seller here with a market share just shy of 9 percent.

    • Following the Kia SUV closely was the Mahindra XUV300 with a difference of only 20-odd units. It managed to cross its average 6-month sales number by almost 170 units.

    Nissan Magnite
    Renault Kiger

    • The last two spots on the segment charts were taken up by the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger SUVs. While the former’s sales numbers stood close to the 2,500-unit mark, the latter failed to go beyond 1,000 units. This led to the two having a market share of less than 5 percent each in September 2023. Nissan recently introduced the choice of the AMT with the Magnite which could reflect in its sales for October 2023.
