Volkswagen India drives in the refreshed Vento with a new 1.5L diesel engine mated with segment first dual-clutch 7-speed DSG automatic along with existing petrol motors. The 2014 Vento starts at a price of Rs. 7.44 lakh (Ex-Showroom New Delhi). Apart from the state-of-the-art dual-clutch automatic, Vento adorns similar changes from the recently updated 2014 Polo – it's twin-hatch.
Exterior: Features and Dimensions
- The exteriors changes are minimalistic on the new Vento, at the outset it gets new Polo derived dual-barrel headlamps and sports a new 'Toffee Brown' shade.
- 2014 Vento facelift rides on 185/60 R15 radials with a new 'Spokane' alloys wheel, the starting variants rides on 175/70 R14 (Steel wheels).
- The new Vento measures: 4384mm (Length), 1699mm (width) and 1466mm (height) along with a wheelbase of 2552mm and comes with a ground clearance of 165mm for diesel and 168mm for petrol.
Interiors: Features
- The dashboard of the new Vento features a new multi-function flat-bottom steering wheel along with brushed aluminum finish on the central console and chrome accents.
- The steering wheel is leather wrapped along along with the handbrake level and gearshift knob. While the seats are upholstered in 'Livon' upholstery. And the driver's seat is height adjustable.
- Vento continues to carry the automatic climate control air conditioning with rear AC vents.
- Interiors also comes with ambient lighting, updated audio system with voice inputs and rear parking sensors.
Safety:
- The new Vento comes standard with dual-front airbags while the ABS plus EBD starts from the second trim level.
- The DSG variant also comes with ESP – Electronic Stabilisation Programme and Hill Hold Control
Engine: Power and Torque
Vento Diesel:
- The diesel Vento gets a VW's new 1.5 liter TDI diesel that debuted in the country with the new Polo. The more powerful of this 1.5 liter motro that is also under the Polo GT TDI powers the new Vento.
- The motor pumps out 103.5bhp @ 4400rpm and 250Nm of peak torque @ 1500-2500rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-Speed MT and 7-speed DSG automatic. The 1.5 TDI delivers 21.21km/l.
Vento Petrol:
- Offered with both two engine options, a 1.6 liter naturally aspirated MPI petrol and 1.2 liter turbocharged TSI petrol. The 1.6 MPI churns out 103.5bhp and 153Nm of peak torque while the punchier 1.2 TSI turbo belts out 103.5bhp and 175Nm of torque. The 1.6 MPI gets 5-speed MT while the 1.2 TSI gets 7-speed DSG automatic. The 1.2 Tsi delivers 16.93km/l.
