New Volvo XC 90 official sketches out

If we are lucky, we might see the new Volvo XC 90 SUV slated for a 2014 launch in India too. Whether we see it or not, this doesn’t stop the auto major to introduce the revamped version of the same. The luxury car manufacturer is reported to prepare four official sketches go give an outline of how the revamped version should ideally look. One out of the four, or probably with a right measure of mix and match, the auto major is expected to develop the next generation premium SUV. While the new launch is not just about the looks.

The series of mechanical changes to be brought into the SUV are likely to work on the low emissions of the car. If the rumours are to be believed, the SUV will be one of the best with minimum CO2 emissions among the diesel-electric hybrid cars. Furthermore, its also said that some similarities on the new SUV could be traced from the concept , which was showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show.  In a way, the new Volvo XC 90 can be called as 4-wheel drive car. The new Volvo XC 90 hybrid plug-in is rumoured to be the one on Volvo V60 that was exposed at the Geneva Motor show for the first time.

The innovative scalable platform architecture could lay the foundation for the new model. Hopefully, the same platform is expected to build the future Volvo line-up too. The 2.4 L D5 turbo diesel engine is meant for the front wheel drive, while the electric powerplant of 69 bhp with the Electric Rear Axle Drive System (ERAD) will handle the rear wheels to paint the picture of a perfect 4x4 drive system. The 6-speed automatic gearbox will deliver its functionality quite efficiently combined with the powerful diesel and electric powerplants.
