Nissan will offer the Magnite in a total of five variants. But how different are they visually?
Update (02/12/2020): Nissan has launched the Magnite with prices beginning from Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Read more about it here.
The sub-4m SUV segment has become one of the most populated spaces in the last couple of years. It recently witnessed the addition of the Kia Sonet and Toyota Urban Cruiser while models such as the Ford EcoSport and Maruti Vitara Brezza have been on sale for more than 4 years now. Nissan will be entering the segment soon with the petrol-only Magnite SUV, which was revealed in October 2020. While we have already brought to you the top-spec Magnite’s exterior in detailed images, here’s a look at its other variants:
Nissan Magnite XE
Engine: 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 5-speed MT
Being the base-spec variant, the Magnite XE looks pretty basic compared to the higher variants. It gets basic steel wheels with hub caps but thankfully, 16-inch wheels are standard across the range, and so are non-body-coloured ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors), halogen headlamps, rear spoiler with stop lamp, and body-coloured door handles. The LED DRLs (present on higher-specced variants) have been given a miss, replaced by L-shaped chrome strips. On close observation, you can even spot the turn indicators positioned next to the ORVMs on the front fenders. At the rear, it gets a wiper, washer and defogger, which is much appreciable.
Inside, it comes in a dual-tone layout and is equipped with both front and rear power windows. The base-spec XE Magnite is seen with black fabric seats with grey accents, black inside door handles, internally-adjustable ORVMs, manual AC, and LED instrument cluster with a 3.5-inch MID. It misses out even on an audio system and steering-mounted audio and calling controls.

Nissan Magnite XL
Engine: 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 5-speed MT or 1.0-litre turbo-petrol with either a 5-speed MT or CVT
The XL is the second-to-base variant and gets silver front and rear faux skid plates, 16-inch wheels with dual-tone finished wheel covers, and body-coloured ORVMs. From this variant onwards, the turn indicators are positioned on the side mirrors. The CVT-equipped XL variant comes with chrome door handles and a ‘CVT’ moniker on the boot while the Turbo variant gets a ‘Turbo’ badge.
On the inside, one of the main additions is an audio system with AUX, Bluetooth and MP3 support. It also gets four speakers and two tweeters, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, auto AC, silver finish on inside door handles, and steering-mounted audio and calling controls. The Turbo variant gets a rear armrest and 60:40 split seats that’s missing on the corresponding 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine variant. Nissan is offering the CVT-equipped variants with push button start/stop.
Nissan Magnite XV
Engine: 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 5-speed MT or 1.0-litre turbo-petrol with either a 5-speed MT or CVT
With the XV variant, the Magnite gets front fog lamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome-finished door handles, and body side moulding with silver inserts adding to the premiumness of the SUV. This is also the variant from which you can have the Magnite in a dual-tone paint scheme. If you pick the dual-tone variant, the ORVMs are finished in the same colour as that of the roof.
From the XV variant, the Magnite’s biggest highlight is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and steering-mounted controls for MID and voice operations. Nissan is also offering an optional Tech Pack that consists of a wireless charger, an air purifier, 6-speaker JBL sound system, LED scuff plates, ambient lighting and puddle lamps from this variant.
Nissan XV Premium
Engine: 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 5-speed MT or 1.0-litre turbo-petrol with either a 5-speed MT or CVT
Although the XV Premium variant is similar to the XV, it does get LED projector headlamps with LED turn indicators and chrome finish on the window belt line for differentiation.
The XV Premium is the only variant to get an all-black cabin. Feature highlights of this variant include leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, and tyre pressure monitoring system. Apart from Nissan’s connected car tech, the XV Premium (O) variant is identical to the XV Premium variant.
Nissan is expected to launch the Magnite by late November and is expected to price the SUV from Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza/Toyota Urban Cruiser, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, and the upcoming Renault Kiger.
