Nissan Micra all ready for export

A top company official stated that Nissan Motor India is planning to start the shipping of its famous hatchback Nissan Micra to overseas markets this month. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Nissan Motor India Chairman and Managing Director commented that they will start shipping Micra models to overseas markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa from the company’s plant in Chennai from this month.

Tokuyama was participating in the two-day conference 'CONNECT 2010', organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).Tokuyama stated that in the month of July, Nissan Motor India launched its Micra in the Indian market. He also told that the model received around 3,600 bookings so far. He further added that the Chennai plant of the company is serving as a global hub. The company registered total sales of 1,249 units in August 2010.

Last year in the same month of August, Nissan Motor India sold 22 units. Earlier, the company had commented that it began the nationwide sales of Micra on July 15. It had sold 928 units that month. Currently, besides Micra, Nissan Motor India retails luxury sedan Teana, premium SUV X-trail and sports car 370Z as CBU (completely built unit) in the country.
