Nissan Micra malfunctioning affects its export plans

Nissan Motors manufactured hatchback, Nissan Micra to be exported to European auto markets has been facing a malfunction and as such will go under correction. As per the company, it is not calling it a recall. The defect was that a slight sound was being heard in the pump area while idling. It was found in few cars when tested after it landed in Europe, which signaled the auto company to correct the defect immediately. Nissan India's spokesperson from Chennai, confirmed that, during the inspection which was conducted before the launch, the Japanese auto manufacturer figured out a noise which occurred in the powertrain bay in some of the cars while its start up in excessive winter season. Nissan replaced the oil specifications in the European cars as per the conditions of the European Climate. The spokesperson further said that this problem will not be an obstacle in the performance and operation of the cars powertrain.

When questioned if it was a recall from the company, the spokesperson stated that it cannot be called a recall as recall happens when the car has reliability and quality problems. The sudden defect has negatively affected the company's export for a while, for the hatchback model Nissan Micra. According to the company's spokesperson, the company is revising the geographical distribution schedule accordingly. When the oil will be changed, the Nissan Micra will be distributed in the same pattern. Coming straight from the horses mouth, Nissan commented that the error is an engineering defect rather than the manufacturing one. The car does not have reliability and safety concern, it is only a mild noise being heard.

Nissan Motors produces Nissan Micra, the hatchback in India and it plans to ship it in more than 100 countries in and around Europe, Africa and Middle East. Nissan expects to sell as many as 1.1 lakh cars in the international auto market in its first year. The company started exporting the Nissan Micra in October, 2010. Nissan recently, introduced Nissan Micra diesel version in the Indian auto market. The Japanese automobile maker from a long time was planning to venture in the diesel segment cars. Nissan Micra Diesel comes with a price tag of Rs 5.8 to Rs 6.33 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The diesel version will be available in two car models Nissan Micra Diesel XV and Nissan Micra Diesel XV Premium.
