Nissan Micra ready to launch by July 2010

Nissan Motor Company, Japan based world's largest car-maker will start selling its much awaited small car Nissan Micra in India from July this year. The company is planning to export this model to various European countries from India by September this year. Where in the markets like India and UK it will be called as Nissan Micra, in Thailand, Japan it will be named as Nissan March.
According to company the car will be launched in markets like Thailand, India, Brazil and probably Mexico. The car will be exported from Ennore port in north Chennai, from where company is hoping to export 3 to 4 lakh cars per year. At the same time company is hoping to sell 90,000-100,000 units per year.
A few months back while inaugurating Renault-Nissan Alliance facility at Oragadam, Akira Sakurai, chief executive officer and managing director of the company said that the new Nissan Micra would be exported to over 100 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The domestic sale of Micra would commence in July, he added.
India will be the export hub for components for Nissan's plants in Taiwan, Thailand and Japan, said, Kiminobu Tokuyama, managing director and CEO of Nissan Motors India. Nissan is planning to source US$10 million worth of parts from India in 2010, which will be scaled up to US$ 20 million by 2011 and $40 million by 2012, added Mr Tokuyama.
