Nissan, the Japanese car manufacturer has teased an image of its upcoming car Pulsar. The company will unveil this new car on the 20th May, 2014. The automaker used its social platform to tease its new offering. According to the Nissan's official Facebook page, the car will join the line-up of the Nissan Qashqai, Juke and X-Trail.
However, there is no official news out yet that the new Pulsar would be a compact SUV or a five door hatchback. But by looking at the teased image, it is expected that the car will sit besides the likes of X-Trail and Qashqai as the Pulsar shares its styling cues from both the compact SUVs. One can see the V-shaped grille, familiar headlamps with boomerang-shaped LED day-time running lights. The car is developed at Nissan's Technical Center in Bedfordshire, UK while the production of the car will be done in Barcelona, Spain. Though if media reports are to be believed, Pulsar will be a five door hatch and the company is prepping up for an early launch in European auto-sector to rival Volkswagen's Golf or Ford Focus.
In Indian auto-sector, the company locally manufactures Nissan Micra and Nissan Micra Active in hatchback segment while in saloon segment, Nissan Sunny and Teana do the duty. The company also offers Nissan Terrano in SUV segment and Nissan Evalia in MPV segment. Recently due to poor sales, the company discontinued X-Trail and 370Z Coupe.
Nissan is also planning to bring the facelift version of Sunny in the month of September. The facelift version is already showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The updated vehicle features aggressive and large front grille, newly designed headlamps, new side mirror designs and chrome emblazonment across the exterior profile. Inside the cabin, the car now gets piano finished black centre console, music system with Buletooth, USB and AUX connectivity.
The top shelf variant gets Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition and infotainment system with 5.0-inch display and NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps. The car also gets trip computer with outside temperature display, power windows with driver's one-touch down, speed-sensing auto door locks and remote trunk release lever. Mechanically, the car remains unchanged and will keep on carrying its 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that churns maximum power output of 84.8bhp while the gasoline model carries 1.5-litre, HR15 petrol engine that develops a power of 97.7bhp.
Moreover, the company in India is doing excellent in terms of sales and exports. Recently, Nissan India acquired number two spot in car exports by beating Maruti Suzuki while for the domestic sales in April, the auto-maker posted a massive growth of 328%.
