It's official -- Maruti Suzuki will be finally moving its popular sedan, the Ciaz, to its Nexa line of premium dealerships from April 1, 2017. Until now the Ciaz was being sold through regular Maruti dealerships; however, starting from April you can book one from Nexa outlets. With the addition of the Ciaz, the Nexa outlets will now retail five cars — the S-Cross, Baleno, Baleno RS, Ignis and the Ciaz.
Maruti discontinued the 'V' variant of the Ciaz which didn't offer airbags and ABS, and it was being sold in only four variants, VXi(O), VXi+, ZXi and ZXi+. However as it will now be sold through Nexa, the variants have been renamed to Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
Earlier, it was expected that the Maruti Ciaz will be shifted to NEXA after the introduction of a midlife facelift later this year; however, Maruti is shifting the Ciaz now without any major changes. A new colour option, Blue, has been added and the Black exterior colour has been discontinued.
While the Ciaz was launched in October 2014, Maruti introduced the Nexa line of showrooms in July 2015. The Ciaz is one of the highest selling cars in the C- sedan segment and more than 150,000 units have been sold since its introduction. The Ciaz is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine that churns out 92PS of power, and a 1.3-litre 90PS diesel engine diesel engine which is also offered with SHVS technology. Transmission duties are covered by a 5-speed manual gearbox in both petrol and diesel variants; however, the petrol is also available with a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
