We found a Jimny standing next to an old Thar and couldn’t help but make comparisons
It’s no secret that the Jimny is on its way to India, and while it won’t be the same 3-door version you see in these pictures, there will be similarities. The biggest difference between this and the 5-door Jimny will be the length of the vehicle and its wheelbase. In terms of width and height, we don’t expect that much of a difference.
A good example of this would be the Jeep Wrangler. It is available in both 3-door and 5-door configurations, but the only big difference in their dimensions lies in their length and wheelbase. In fact, the long wheelbase Jimny has already been spied testing and it looks similar in width and height to its 3-door counterpart.

Talking about the Jimny, it is a cute little off-roader, a persona which camouflages its excellent off-road capabilities. The old Thar on the other hand is an in-your-face kind of vehicle which screams about its off-roading credentials. In this comparison, the old Thar completely dwarfs the Jimny’s road presence, with its extra height and width. And frankly, the new Thar is even wider (close to 130mm)than the older one.

Looking at this image, you will immediately understand that the new Thar has a significant width advantage over the old Thar and seeing it in person gives a real sense of exactly how much the difference is. So when compared to the Jimny, we expect the new Thar to have a far more imposing road presence.
