With the hope that the big Asian market will make it possible for them to leave the crisis behind, the automakers gathered on Thursday to show a number of electric cars and various models. More than 300 firms from all over the world were present at the two-week exhibition. The two-week exhibition will be open to the public from Saturday. The glamorous models included Ferrari's drop-top SA Aperta and French automakers and Citroen showcased cars which they manufactured in partnership with fashion brands Lacoste and Miss Sixty.

Over a million visitors were present  at that exhibition. The exhibition halls were full of gleaming stylish vehicles. The 3-seater electric Pop concept of Kia features butterfly-wing doors. These doors open  upwards and forwards. This model created a buzz at the show. The new Mercedes CLS was unveiled. The model represents the combination of coupe styling along with the saloon’s four doors. New Ford Focus ST was displayed to its European customers. Peugeot showcased its upgraded 407 and the 508. The visitors will soon get to know about the new Citroen C4. Chevrolet Europe president, Wayne Brannon commented that presently there are far too few people in Europe who know about Chevrolet and the cars they make, so their intention is to tell the story a little bit louder than they have been able to tell it.

The carmakers of Europe expect a fall of 7.0 per cent in sales in the present year. But on the other hand, China’s car sales are increasing speedily. This makes China the biggest market globally. Presently, the major concerns for the automobile industry include the strict regulations on carbon dioxide emissions by vehicles, the different environmental worries and the unsure conditions of the oil prices. The automakers will invest heavily in the emerging new technologies for lessening the CO2 emissions and to reduce the energy consumption also.
