The French auto major is trying its best to enter into the Indian car market with its sedan model, despite the painfully low volume of sales recording mere 1,900 units sales in a year. However, the company has plans to make its way into the hatchback segment as well, over a period of time. According to an industry source, the Peugeot is careful about making its re-entry into the India car market after its exit from India about 15 years back. The company has finalized Gujarat as the location to set up its manufacturing facility. Volkswagen had also made its debut in India with the launch of its sedan car Volkswagen Passat in 2007 and then forayed in other segments as well that includes both the high as well as low end models.
