Porsche Macan 2.0 Petrol Launched At Rs 76.16 Lakh

Porsche has launched the Macan in a petrol avatar at a price of Rs 76.16 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol trim sits at the bottom of the Macan variants offered in India. After the announcement of the 2.0 litre diesel engine ban in Delhi and now in Kerala sales of carmakers have gone down considerably, especially of the luxury players. 

Porsche is the first luxury carmaker to come up with a petrol version after the diesel car ban. With the possibility of diesel restriction spreading to other states luxury carmakers has started to bring the petrol version of their existing diesel models. That said, the diesel Macans will continue to ply in other regions of the country. 

Borrowed from VW, the 1984cc in-line 4-cylinder petrol engine pumps out maximum power of 252PS along with generating peak torque of 370Nm. The SUV is linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission which transfers power to all four wheels. Reaching from naught to 100kmph in 6.7seconds, the car’s top whack is 229kmph. With respect to fuel efficiency, it delivers a moderate 13.8kmpl (company claimed). 

The new Macan petrol matches the power figures of the Stuttgart-based carmaker’s latest offering – the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. The Merc returns 245PS of max power and 370Nm of max torque, however, this is offered at a more reasonable price i.e. Rs 50.9 lakh (ex-showroom). 

Let’s see if the petrol fueled Macan is able to augment Porsche’s sales in the country.
