Proton to launch small cars on Nissan V Platform

Proton, the Malaysian car marker, incepted in 1983, is planning to establish itself in India. Proton is jointly owned by Government and for a long time enjoyed sole stake in Malaysia until Perodua, the rival company was established in 1993. The Malaysian auto marker is planning to head to India with its Proton EMAS compact car. But the company may take two years to establish itself on the Indian soils. As of now, Proton is fully concentrating on the technology it will bring to India. The engineers of the Malaysian car marker are developing the car as per the Indian standards. As per the auto industry sources, it is believed that Proton, manufacturer of cars and other auto parts, may use Nissian V-Platform which is a very promising concept.
The V platform started in 2005 and developed in Japan was made to serve the buyers and customers globally. As per the sources, Proton is being advised that, if the Malaysian car company is willing to enter the Indian market in 2012, Proton can utilize the V platform which is available currently. The Malaysian car makers can also deal up with Nissan and manufacture the model at the Orgadam facility of Nissan. This is a promising idea as Nissan is open to partnerships. Nissan in India is establishing itself. The company currently sells Nissan Micra which is available in the Indian auto market. EMAS, the new car is speculated to come with a 1.2 litre engine producing power of 75 bhp. The car will be a sub 5 door, 4-meter hatch which is speculated to come with a price tag around Rs 4 to Rs 5 lacs. The car manufacturers have designed the car in different powertrains but the best for the Indian soil will be diesel engine and petrol engine. 2010 has been one of the most successful year for the Indian auto market. This year has seen the widest range of products from new models to new cars. The auto market growth is remarkable and lots of local and foreign investors are looking forward to investment and grabbing a large chunk of the market.
