Range Rover Evoque to hit indian shores next year

The smallest Range Rover product Range Rover Evoque will hit Indian cars by 2011. Earlier this car was showcased in Paris Motor Show in September this year with price of 30,000 Euros (Rs. 21 lakhs). The Tata Motors owned first luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover(JLR) is planning to bring in the first Range Rover product. The car is going to imported from the Jaguar Land Rover's maufacturing facility at Halewood in UK. The car will have 110 percent addition import duty.
Rohit Suri, Head of premier car division at Tata Motors, informed the sources that Range Rover Evoque will be launched in India by next year. He added that this beautifully crafted stylish car will have its own class image in the domestic market and is meant for people who expect class in a car which suits to their lifestyle.
Suri stated that the company has not yet decided whether they are going to bring in the three door or five door version of this car. The first crossover of Land Rover, Range Rover Evoque is designed in a symmetric way to make more fuel efficient and urban. The car will have 2.0 litre engine and will produce maximum power of 240 bhp.
This year Tata Motors has sold 242 Jaguar Land Rover units in 2009 – 10 session with impressive hike in sales of the premium JLR cars. The Luxury car market has this year mounted up to 60 – 70% with raising demands. Sales of Land Rover was high this year in comparison to Jaguar sales.
Mr. Suri that demands of premium vehicles in India is high with the mounting demands from celebrities, real estate indivisuals, businessman and corporate heads. The Tata Motors owned subisdiary Land Rover at present sells Freelander, Discovery and Range Rover sport SUV and their pricing ranges from Rs. 63 lakh approx to Rs. 4.75 while Jaguar on the other hand deals with sedans i.e. Jaguar XJ, XF, XFR and XKR in the domestic market. The Range Rover Evoque is expected to compete with cars like Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Toyota Land Cruieser Parado, Volkswagen Touareg, BMW X5 series and recently launched Volvo XC60.
