Renault announces the creation of Renault sport F1

Renault, the French carmaker today announced the creation the company's sports division, Renault Sport F1 which will cater to the company's presence and involvement in Formula 1 racing. The company will supply both engines and technology for the next year's season and further seasons to be held. Renault would cater to three teams in 2011 season which will account to 25 per cent of the grid.
Alongwith providing engines, Renault Sport F1 will team up with its partners and execute research studies and engineering programmes in fields such as kinetic energy recovery system and transmissions. The new arm of Renault will answer to the challenges put up by the F1 engine regulations through the company's technology. This division would serve as a lab for inventing technologies that work in harmony with the environment and apply to the electric powertrains, combustion and production models.
The sports division of the company, Renault Sport F1 will conduct its activities from Viry-Chtillon which is Renault’s conventional F1 racing base. Bernard Ray who is a member of the company's management committee will chair the division.
The Renault Sport F1 was created after the company's decision to sell out a minority stake to Genii Capital. The company maintains that it will support the Enstone team by providing engines and tech expertise. Renault has the credit of participating in 20 F1 seasons and has won nine Constructors’ world champion titles. They won recently at the Red Bull Racing in 2010. The engines provided by the French automaker have the credit of securing 23 podium finishes which includes a coveted 1-2-3 at the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco 2010. Renault stands proud as the champions of three seasons out of the last six world championships held.
