Renault India Working on a new Entry-Level Car

French carmaker,Renault India which has been doing quite well in the country ever since the launch of Renault Duster compact SUV, is now eyeing at the entry level car segment. In a recent interview with ET, Carlos Tavares revealed that the company is planning to launch 7-8 cars in the next five years, including an entry-level car. He also said that the work on the small entry-level car is going well.

"We really love this market. I think people here have such a high level of demand and such an accurate value evaluation system that making something for this country is always very challenging. But it is always very rewarding too, if you hit the right product. So, we have to be very sure and identify the right attributes for a product for India," said Tavares.
He further talked about the potential of entry level segment, which is helping competitors in making "tonnes of money" out of it. So, entering into this segment would be right choice, however he said that Renault will have to bring out a product which appeals to the Indian buyers and make profit for the company. Tavares refused to share the exact timeline for the project, but informed that the work in progress. However, ET claims this car to come by June 2015.
This entry level car, code-named A Entry is likely to derive its power from an 800c petrol engine."If that car were to be decided, the first worldwide application will be in India," said Tavares.
